Facebook Android Overtakes IOS Version For First Time

In terms of Daily Average Users (DAU), the Android version of the Facebook app is now more popular than the iOS version according to a Dec 19 report by analysts AppData.
According to the report the number of DAU of the Facebook Android app overtook the number of DAU iOS Facebook app users for the first time in Dec 2011.

The number of DAU users of the Android version of the Facebook app is now estimated at 58,800,000 compared to around 57,600,000 users of Apple's iOS version.

In terms of Monthly Average Users (MAU), Apple's iOS is far ahead of its Android rival with 99,500,000 iOS MAU compared to 86,100,000 Android MAU.
Nielsen's 'Third Quarter State of the Media: The Mobile Media Report estimated that Android accounted for around 43% of the US smartphone market compared to Apple's 28%.

However, separate data released Dec 13 by mobile analytics firm Flurry suggests that app developers still prefer working with, and developing apps for, Apple's iOS system. - Relaxnews 2011
